Weapon Showcase - Decree of the Lich King

Dark Fantasy Weapon Collection | Unreal Engine | Game Art

As part of my work on Decree of the Lich King, a dark fantasy turn-based game set within a ruined cathedral environment, I developed a collection of weapons designed to reflect the identity, role, and visual language of each character within the world.

This project focused heavily on creating weapons that feel grounded within the game’s dark fantasy setting while remaining readable and visually distinct from the player’s perspective during gameplay.

The collection includes:

- The Knight’s Sword
- The Healer’s Church Censer
- The Serpent Spear villain weapon

Each weapon was designed around the personality and gameplay role of its user.

The knight’s sword focuses on strength, authority, and presence. The wide engraved guard, silver blade detailing, and red gemstone accents were used to reinforce the character’s heroic identity while maintaining a strong and readable silhouette.

The healer’s church censer was designed as both a ceremonial object and magical focus. Inspired by gothic and religious imagery, the weapon incorporates engraved glyphs and structural forms intended to support the healer’s ritualistic visual effects and abilities.

The snake spear explores a more aggressive and symbolic design direction for a villain character. Organic serpent forms were combined with hard-surface weapon elements to create a threatening silhouette and stronger sense of movement within the design.

Development Focus

Key areas explored during development included:

- silhouette and readability
- weapon storytelling and symbolism
- sculpting workflow refinement
- material and texture balance
- integrating weapons within a dark fantasy game environment

This project was also a valuable opportunity to further develop my workflow in Unreal Engine, sculpting, texturing, and real-time asset creation while working within a collaborative game development pipeline.
